Point System

All athletes will have four marks (or times) counted towards their cumulative individual points as well as their teams overall points. These points are based on the IAAF scoring table allowing for a relatively even distribution of points across discipines and genders. Core athletes must compete at a minimum of 1 prelim (Time 3) and the championship (Time 4). They will also recieve 30 additional IAAF points for marks achieved at CTFL meets. The remaining two times (Time 1 & 2) that will be counted for points can either be accumulated at the designated official CTFL prelim meets or any other sanctioned meet as per their provincial athletics organization. The CTFL will take the best result for each athlete for Time 1 and Time 2 up until the July 20th championship.

Example of how the IAAF scoring table works:

A men's long jump result of 7.09 metres is equal to 942 points, whereas a women's long jump result totalling 942 points is equal to a 5.74 metre jump. If an athlete jumps less (farther) than the marks above, they will recieve a lower (higher) amount of points.

See "About the CTFL" page for more information on the CTFL points system
